in the past year, i’ve taken a lot less photos and my poor beloved entry-DSLR has been sitting unused.  i used to be really active in taking and sharing photos online but for whatever reason i’m lacking the motivation to do so recently.  i think some of it is a rebellion against the over-sharing within social media and some of it is also the feeling that i don’t need my 600 friends on FB to see every detail of my life.
but part of me also feels like maybe there’s something wrong with my life right now that i don’t feel the need to capture it?  am i not doing enough interesting and different things to warrant documentation?  photographs are a way of prolonging the feeling/joy of an experience, to make it last longer.  maybe i’ve been focusing on enjoying the fullness of the moment rather than living the moment behind the lens.
in the tumblr world of bite-sized media: photos, videos, and short comments, a text entry or a photo-journal entry sometimes feels out of place.  gahh…long form content on a blog!
